The Legend of Spud Murphy - Eoin Colfer

I was a big fan of Artemis Fowl growing up, but for some reason none of the kids I've taught have ever latched onto it. (Stay tuned, I play on re-reading and reviewing it in the hope of changing that!). At the beginning of the year I was looking for a short novel to read to my class before we got stuck into something longer (...... Harry Potter). I hadn't read this before, but gosh I'm glad I did!

Rating: 5 out of 5. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this - especially aloud. My class we begging for "one more chapter" every time we stopped.

Age suggestion: Ages 7+. My 9-10-year-old class adored it, and I can still see older primary aged children having a chuckle!

Ability level: For self-reading, 8+. There are lots of pictures, and only a few word's they'll need help with. But like I said, enjoyable for kids of all ages.

Content notes: .... It's a librarian who has a spud gun for kids who misbehave. It's completely tame and yet completely hilarious with a lovely message about a love of reading.
